How Connections works
Connections presents 16 words and asks players to sort them into four groups of four based on a shared theme. Groups are color-coded by difficulty: yellow is easiest, followed by green and blue, with purple the trickiest. NYT says each puzzle has exactly one solution, while noting that words may seem to fit more than one category. The words and categories are curated by editors using the Oxford Dictionary. Playing puzzle #675 after its original date
The daily puzzle releases at midnight in the player’s timezone, so “today” depends on where the player is. For this answer, the date means April 16, 2025, the publication date given for puzzle #675 by the answer guide.
The NYT Connections archive goes back to June 12, 2023 and is available to All Access and Games subscribers. Playing archived puzzles can affect some completion statistics, but not current or maximum streaks, according to the official Help Center guidance.
