Color Category Words
Yellow RUB TOGETHER GNASH, GRATE, GRIND, SCRAPE
Green WAYS TO PRESERVE FOOD CAN, FERMENT, FREEZE, PICKLE
Blue BREAKFAST CONDIMENTS BUTTER, HOT SAUCE, JAM, SYRUP
Purple PROVERBIAL THINGS THAT ARE SPILLED BEANS, GUTS, MILK, TEA

Why the word board is tricky

Several words invite plausible food-based groupings. PICKLE and JAM can look like a pair because both relate to preserving food, while MILK, TEA, JAM, and BUTTER can suggest a breakfast set. The intended groups split those associations: PICKLE belongs with preservation methods, JAM and BUTTER with breakfast condiments, and MILK and TEA with proverbial things that can be spilled.

The full board was PICKLE, GRATE, MILK, TEA, JAM, SCRAPE, CAN, BUTTER, GRIND, BEANS, SYRUP, FERMENT, FREEZE, GUTS, HOT SAUCE, and GNASH.
