Hints for Connections #692

Try a clue before looking at the answer grid. The hints move from the easiest group to the hardest.

  • Yellow: Slang words for something awesome, cool, or impressive.
  • Green: Four ways to say someone was defeated soundly.
  • Blue: “Will” contractions written without apostrophes.
  • Purple: Web-address endings with one extra letter attached.

How the trickier groups work

Blue: apostrophe-free contractions

Put the missing apostrophe back and the words read as he’ll, I’ll, she’ll, and we’ll. The apostrophe-free spellings are HELL, ILL, SHELL, and WELL.

Purple: domain endings with an extra letter

Each word contains a familiar domain ending followed by one added letter: .com + p gives COMP, .mil + k gives MILK, .net + i gives NETI, and .org + o gives ORGO.
