NYT Connections puzzle #355 was published on May 31, 2024. Here are hints first, followed by the complete solution. Spoilers begin below the answer section heading.

Hints for Connections #355

Try these category clues before revealing the groups:

  • Yellow: a collection or body of creative work.
  • Green: each word completes the name “Mount __.”
  • Blue: four parts associated with an LP.
  • Purple: things people shake.

Connections presents 16 words. Select four you think share a link and submit them; correct groups are removed, while incorrect guesses use up a limited number of attempts. You can shuffle the board if a different layout helps. The color groups generally run from yellow, the easiest, through green and blue to purple, the trickiest, according to the game description in SlashGear’s May 31, 2024 puzzle guide.

  • Yellow — Corpus: OEUVRE, CANON, BODY, WORKS.
  • Green — Mount __: OLYMPUS, FUJI, WHITNEY, HOOD.
  • Blue — Components of an LP: INSERT, JACKET, RECORD, SLEEVE.
  • Purple — Things people shake: HANDS, MARACA, POLAROID, SNOWGLOBE.

Why the trickier groups fit

“Mount __”

OLYMPUS, FUJI, WHITNEY, and HOOD each complete the phrase “Mount __.” The shared pattern is the name cue, rather than a common kind of word.

Things people shake

HANDS, MARACA, POLAROID, and SNOWGLOBE are all things people shake: hands in greeting, a maraca to make music, and a Polaroid or snow globe as an object.

Corpus and LP components

OEUVRE, CANON, BODY, and WORKS point to a corpus: a body or collection of work. INSERT, JACKET, RECORD, and SLEEVE are the LP-related group.
