Full answers for August 25, 2025
Full spoiler: The four completed groups are:
- Yellow — PREDICAMENT: FIX, JAM, MESS, PICKLE
- Green — SMALL SPHERICAL THINGS: MOTHBALL, PEA, PEARL, POM-POM
- Blue — PIPE-SMOKING ACCESSORIES: FILTER, LIGHTER, PIPE CLEANER, TAMPER
- Purple — WHAT “DOWN” MIGHT MEAN: FEATHERS, GUZZLE, SAD, WILLING
Why the word grid can mislead
Some words invite tempting connections that do not match the final groups. PEARL and JAM can bring the band Pearl Jam to mind, while PIPE CLEANER and POM-POM may look like a pair based on materials. Those associations are plausible false starts; the puzzle’s actual groupings are the ones shown above.

How Connections works
Connections presents 16 words for players to sort into four groups of four. Words may seem to fit more than one category, so each guess depends on finding the shared link across the whole set. Players can make four incorrect guesses before the game ends.
