Why the date can differ by location

This is game #778 for July 28, 2025—not a July 28 puzzle from another year. Connections releases a new puzzle at midnight in the player’s time zone, so the same game may appear under a different calendar date depending on where you play.

The New York Times Help Center describes Connections as a game where players sort 16 words into four groups of four. Yellow is the easiest group and Purple the trickiest; the game is designed so words can seem to fit more than one category, but each puzzle has one solution.
