Yellow: Small-time
MICKEY MOUSE, RINKY-DINK, TRIVIAL, TWO-BIT
Each can describe something minor, unimportant, or of little value. TRIVIAL is a direct synonym for inconsequential; RINKY-DINK and TWO-BIT suggest something inferior or insignificant. MICKEY MOUSE can also be used dismissively.
Green: Things that are pink
BARBIE DREAMHOUSE, CALAMINE LOTION, CHERRY BLOSSOM, FLAMINGO
Rank #2
These are commonly associated with pink. Calamine lotion may be less obvious than the other entries, but the connection is the familiar pink lotion, not a claim that every product formulation has the same color.
Blue: Things you can scratch
BUG BITE, LOTTERY TICKET, VINYL RECORD, YOUR HEAD
The word “scratch” works differently across the set: you can scratch an itch from a bug bite, scratch off a lottery ticket, scratch a vinyl record as a DJ technique, or scratch your head. LOTTERY TICKET refers to a scratch-off ticket.

Purple: Starting with optimistic words
GLAD-HAND, HAPPY MEAL, MERRY-GO-ROUND, SUNNY-SIDE UP
The shared feature is at the beginning of each phrase: glad, happy, merry, and sunny are upbeat words. The trick is to look at the opening word rather than search for one literal category that describes all four complete phrases.
