Connections asks you to sort 16 words into four groups of four. You can use these clues in order, from broadest to most revealing:
- Yellow: Recurring household services or bills.

- Blue: Varieties of a familiar insect.
- Purple: Each word completes “copy____.”
For another nudge, ELECTRIC, GAS, and WATER point toward household utilities. FIRE and CARPENTER can help expose the insect category. The last group comes together by placing each word after “copy.”

To FASHION, MOLD, SHAPE, or TAILOR something is to form or adjust it for a particular purpose.
Blue: kinds of ants
ARMY, CARPENTER, FIRE, and PHARAOH each identify a kind of ant.
Purple: words following “copy”
CAT makes “copycat,” RIGHT makes “copyright,” and WRITER makes “copywriter.” PASTA completes “copypasta,” internet slang for text that is copied and pasted repeatedly.

Connections is a daily New York Times word game in which players find four sets of four among 16 entries. The game allows three incorrect guesses; a fourth incorrect guess ends the game.
