About the puzzle
Connections is a New York Times word game built around grouping 16 terms into four sets of four. A 2024 academic paper describing the task reports that GPT-4 and other models it evaluated fell short of human performance by nearly 30% on its benchmark of 358 puzzles. That result applies to the study’s evaluated models and benchmark, not to all current AI systems or every player. Read the paper on arXiv.
The date is the safest way to identify this historical puzzle: TechRadar labels it game #1201, while Xfire labels it #1302. Both sources agree on the categories and tiles. The archived answers are also reported by TechRadar and Xfire.
