GeForce RTX 5080 Super Inbound? 24GB Leak Explained

The rumored RTX 5080 Super has no NVIDIA confirmation. Leak reports point to 24GB of memory and more than 400W of power, while conflicting reports leave its timing uncertain.

No: NVIDIA has not confirmed a GeForce RTX 5080 Super in the cited information. The frequently reported 24GB capacity, along with claims about power and other specifications, comes from leaks—not a published NVIDIA spec sheet. Release timing is also unsettled, with conflicting reports about a possible 2026 launch.

What the RTX 5080 Super leak claims

A May 20, 2025 report by Tom’s Hardware attributed leaked details to hardware leaker Kopite7kimi. The report described a rumored card with 24GB of GDDR7, 10,752 CUDA cores—the same count as the regular RTX 5080—and graphics power above 400W. It did not give a price or availability date.

VideoCardz reported a similar rumor: 24GB of GDDR7 on a 256-bit bus at 32Gbps, with power above 400W. It cautioned that board-partner specifications can change and gave no release timing. A later Tom’s Hardware report repeated the 24GB claim and cited 415W. These are separate leak reports, not a final, consistent specification list.

How it compares with the announced RTX 5080

NVIDIA’s January 2025 launch announcement named the desktop RTX 5080, but not a Super model. It listed the RTX 5080 at $999 with availability beginning January 30, 2025; those are launch-announcement details, not a current street price or guarantee of stock. The announcement also named the RTX 5090, RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070.

Performance evidence Not compared here No benchmark results for the rumored card in the cited reports

More VRAM could matter for workloads that use it, but capacity alone does not establish gaming performance or show how a Super would compare in practice. The cited sources provide no RTX 5080 Super benchmarks.

Is a 2026 launch likely?

The reports disagree. On June 5, 2026, Tom’s Hardware relayed leaker MEGAsizeGPU’s claim that the RTX 50 Super series was “back on track” for a 2026 launch. Another Tom’s Hardware report described a separate claim that NVIDIA would release no new gaming GPUs during 2026, and noted that NVIDIA announced no new GPUs at CES 2026. These are competing third-party reports, not an announced schedule.

In the latter report, NVIDIA was quoted as saying: “Demand for GeForce RTX GPUs is strong, and memory supply is constrained.” That statement concerns GeForce demand and memory supply; it does not confirm or explain an RTX 5080 Super launch.

A Tom’s Hardware status explainer reported that no desktop RTX 5080 Super or RTX 5080 Ti had been officially listed as of August 18, 2026. That dated status does not establish whether NVIDIA made an announcement after that cutoff.

Should you wait for the RTX 5080 Super?

There is no confirmed Super price, launch date, retail availability, or benchmark record in the cited information, so a purchase decision based on a presumed release or performance uplift would be speculative. If you need a GPU now, compare cards that are actually available for your budget and workload rather than treating the rumored model as a buyable option. If you can wait, look for an official NVIDIA announcement and finalized specifications before deciding.
