Why the word groups can be tricky
ARIEL is the Disney princess; ARIAL is the font. That one-letter difference separates two otherwise easy-to-confuse answers. GEORGIA also invites a double take: in this group it is a typeface, not a place name. AREAL belongs with ANGULAR, LINEAR, and VOLUMETRIC as a geometry adjective.

The New York Times says its Connections archive reaches back to June 12, 2023, and is available to All Access and Games subscribers. You can open it on the web at nytimes.com/crosswords or in the NYT Games app; it is not available in the News app’s Play tab.
