How Connections: Sports Edition works
The New York Times describes Connections as a puzzle in which players sort 16 words into four groups of four based on a shared connection. The groups are color-coded yellow, green, blue and purple, from easiest to trickiest; words can appear to fit more than one category. Sports Edition uses the same rules. The Times Help Center puts it this way: “The same rules apply to both versions of Connections to solve the daily puzzle.” See the official Connections rules and access information.

Can you replay this August 26 puzzle?
The New York Times Help Center says Connections: Sports Edition does not have an archive, so this specific dated puzzle is not available to replay in its official archive. The Times lists NYTimes.com Games, NYTimes.com/The Athletic, The Athletic app and the NYT News app as places to access Sports Edition.
