Start with the color-coded hints below, then open the spoiler sections for the category names and answer sets.
How to approach puzzle #532
Look for words that can connect in more than one way: a team name, a place, a sport, or a phrase that follows “Coach.” If one possible group seems too broad, hold it and look for a tighter connection among the remaining words. The hints below move from a general nudge to the category label and then the four answers.
Hints for March 9
- Yellow: Rocky Mountain High.
- Green: Upper Midwest division.
- Blue: Speed demons.
- Purple: Leading the team.

Connections: Sports Edition is a daily word puzzle associated with The New York Times and The Athletic. Its format is to sort 16 words into four groups of four based on a shared connection. A contemporaneous Parade report said it was available in The Athletic app and online for free at the time of publication; access terms may change. Parade’s March 9, 2026 answer report is the source for this puzzle’s date, number, hints, categories, and answer groups.
