How to use these October 7 Pips hints
Pips asks you to place dominoes so the numbers in each colored region meet its rule. The described boards use exact sums, greater-than or less-than thresholds, and an all-equal column. Start with the clue that most tightly restricts a cell or region, then use the domino’s other half to check the neighboring constraint.

Easy hints
Hint 1: Start with the purple sum
The purple region contains two cells and must total 1. Its values therefore have to be 0 and 1.

Hint 2: Use the forced neighboring value
The neighboring pink cell must be greater than 2, and the dated guide describes it receiving 3. A 0/3 domino lies horizontally across the purple and pink cells.
Hint 3: Check the other constrained regions
A vertical 1/2 domino puts 1 in the purple region and 2 in an uncolored cell below. A horizontal 2/5 domino crosses the teal and orange regions, placing 5 in teal and 2 in the orange cell, which must be greater than 1. The guide identifies the teal region as a sum-9 column.

The 6 is part of a vertical 6/0 domino. Its 0 half goes into a teal region whose value must be less than 2.

A pink region with a sum of 5 takes the 5 half of a 5/1 domino. The other half, 1, helps complete an orange sum-6 region alongside the earlier 5.
