The archive’s general advice is to begin with the most restrictive regions, keep track of the dominoes still unused, and check that both halves of a domino work in the cells they cover. For these boards, that is strategy rather than a confirmed sequence of moves: the captured page does not provide verified hints or a full placement solution.

- Start with a tightly constrained region, such as a one-cell zero target or a small sum target, because it limits the value that can occupy that cell.
- When a domino crosses into another region, check its other half against that region’s rule as well; fitting one side is not enough.
- Update the remaining domino inventory after each placement so you do not reuse a piece or overlook a value needed by a restrictive region.
Do you need dominoes to play Pips?
No. The NYT puzzle is digital; a physical domino set is optional and useful only if you want to experiment with related offline puzzles.
