How to solve the September 14 Pips puzzle
Pips is a domino-placement logic game: fit the available dominoes onto the board while obeying the rule shown in each colored region. A number requires the pips in that region to add up to that exact value. An equals sign requires the values to match, while a less-than clue caps the region’s total. - Start with the tightest region. Look for a sum or other rule that allows the fewest possible pip combinations. Record which domino values could satisfy it.
- Check the dominoes that can fit there. A candidate must meet the region rule and fit the board’s available spaces. Consider both ends of each domino where placement permits.
- Carry the limits into neighboring regions. A domino may occupy spaces in different regions, so choosing its values for one clue can constrain the other region it touches.
- Repeat until the placements are forced. If a choice creates an impossible total or leaves a region unable to meet its rule, undo that choice and test another legal arrangement.
Are the September 14 answers confirmed?
No exact NYT Easy, Medium, or Hard placements for September 14, 2026, are confirmed by the available sources. Anagrammer’s date-specific search result identifies three difficulty levels, but its page could not be reviewed and its surfaced summaries were inconsistent; it is not a dependable basis for publishing a solution grid: Anagrammer’s September 14 answer guide.

Why answer pages can disagree
Pips archives from different publishers may contain different boards for the same date. In particular, an independently generated board is not evidence of the official NYT layout. If you need exact placements, compare the board and solution directly with the September 14 puzzle in the NYT game rather than relying on a date label alone.
