How Strands hints work
Secondary Strands guides describe the board as a word-search-style grid: connect letters to form words, with theme words highlighted when found. The spangram expresses the puzzle’s theme and stretches between opposite sides of the board. Those guides also say that finding three non-theme words of at least four letters earns a hint that reveals part of a theme word. These gameplay details come from the cited guides, not an official NYT rules page.
