How the Strands grid works
Parade’s guide describes a six-by-eight letter grid. Find the theme words by connecting letters, and the game keeps them highlighted. The spangram describes the theme and touches opposite sides of the grid. According to the guide, finding three non-theme words earns a hint. Parade’s December 8 guide summarizes these mechanics; they are not confirmed here against an NYT rules page.
