Forbes describes the spangram as a phrase that expresses what the theme words have in common and says it is shaped like a staff. The shape is the writer’s observation, not an additional rule of the game. TechRadar reports the route from the bottom edge at column three to the top edge at column five. How Strands works
Strands is a daily word-search-style puzzle played on a six-by-eight letter grid. Connect adjacent letters horizontally, vertically, or diagonally to form words; paths can change direction. The goal is to find the words tied to the theme clue and the spangram. Forbes describes the game as available on the NYT website and in the NYT Games app; availability may change.
