Deluxe is worth considering if its extra equipment quests, themed gear, digital artbook, and soundtrack app are worth the extra cost to you.
What does Deluxe add over Standard?
Bethesda lists the same base game and legacy content in both editions. Deluxe adds quests for unique Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon armor, weapons, and horse armor sets, plus a digital artbook and soundtrack app. The extras—not access to the original expansions—are the reason to pay more for Deluxe.
According to Bethesda’s edition contents FAQ, the contents are:

Who should buy Standard?
Choose Standard if your priority is playing the remastered game, its two story expansions, and its original add-ons. You do not need Deluxe to get that legacy content: Bethesda lists it in Standard.

When is Deluxe worth the upgrade?
Deluxe makes sense when you specifically want the new Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon equipment quests and their armor, weapons, and horse armor, or you value the artbook and soundtrack app. Compare the Deluxe price with Standard in your platform’s store at checkout: Bethesda’s edition details establish what Deluxe adds, but not one universal price or value for those extras.
If you already own the digital base game, check the store’s Deluxe upgrade listing instead of buying the full game again. Bethesda says the digital upgrade adds the Deluxe quests and digital artbook and soundtrack app to the digital base game; the base game is required and sold separately. Confirm the upgrade’s availability and current price for your platform and region.

Which physical edition are you buying?
Xbox and PlayStation physical Deluxe
Bethesda describes these editions as a disc in an amaray case, with a code for the Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon digital extras, artbook, and soundtrack app. Its Physical Deluxe Edition FAQ says, “Additional download required to play the game.” Bethesda also says an internet connection is required for the initial downloads, after which the game can be played offline. These releases are available in specified regions while supplies last; local participating retailers set pricing and availability.
Nintendo Switch 2 physical Deluxe
Bethesda’s June 30, 2026 announcement describes a distinct physical Deluxe edition with the full base game on cartridge, the two story expansions, and original add-ons, alongside the digital Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon gear. Bethesda said the Switch 2 release date was August 11, 2026. Do not assume the Xbox and PlayStation disc edition’s download conditions apply to the cartridge: check the exact platform and regional listing before buying.

- Start with the content. If the base game, Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine, and original add-ons are what you want, Standard covers them.
- Decide whether the Deluxe extras matter to you. Consider the new equipment quests and gear, artbook, and soundtrack app—not the legacy expansions, which are already in Standard.
- Compare the local price difference. Store prices and discounts vary by platform and region; Bethesda directs physical-edition buyers to local participating retailers for pricing.
- Check what you already own. Digital base-game owners can look for the Deluxe upgrade, while boxed buyers should verify disc versus cartridge and any download requirement on the precise listing.
