That was five days after its April 22 release date. The figure measures simultaneous Steam players—not copies sold, unique players, or the game’s full audience across PC, consoles, and Game Pass.
How many people played Oblivion Remastered on Steam?
SteamDB records an all-time peak of 216,784 concurrent players for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on April 27, 2025. Its listing gives the Steam release time as 15:01 UTC on April 22, 2025. The peak therefore came five days after the release date, rather than on launch day. SteamDB’s player chart is a third-party Steam measurement; SteamDB states it is not affiliated with Valve or Steam.

“Concurrent” means players active at the same time. The 216,784 figure is not a count of total players over time, sales, or owners. It also excludes activity on other platforms and does not quantify Game Pass participation.
When and where did the remaster launch?
Bethesda announced the game’s availability on April 22, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass, PlayStation 5, and PC. Bethesda’s announcement describes the original Oblivion as a 2006 release. SteamDB separately records the Steam release at 15:01 UTC that day. Bethesda’s launch announcement and SteamDB’s chart describe different pieces of the launch: the former lists the broader availability, while the latter tracks Steam.

What does the Steam peak say about the game’s reach?
It establishes that a large number of people were playing simultaneously on Steam at the measured high point. It does not establish the total audience or commercial performance across platforms. No sales or unique-player total is provided by these sources, so the Steam concurrency peak should not be used as a substitute for either.
A comparison with another game would also need to match the metric, platform, and time window—for example, Steam concurrent peaks compared with Steam concurrent peaks, with both dates identified. The 216,784 figure alone is not a like-for-like comparison with sales milestones, launch-day counts, or cross-platform totals.

How did Bethesda describe the remaster?
Bethesda Game Studios said the project began in 2021 and was intended as a remaster, not a remake. The studio’s stated approach was to preserve the original’s core while updating its presentation and systems. It described remastered art, animation, special effects, and parts of the world; new voice recordings alongside retained original voices; and changes to game systems, including leveling intended to make progression smoother and better balanced. These are the developer’s descriptions of its work, not independent performance findings.
