A tipster claimed in September 2025 that a “super limited” GeForce RTX 5090 prototype with 128GB of memory was priced at about $13,200. That figure was not a verified sale or confirmed listing, and the alleged card’s authenticity remains disputed. NVIDIA’s official GeForce RTX 5090 specification is 32GB of GDDR7, not 128GB.
What was claimed about the 128GB RTX 5090?
On September 7, 2025, social-media tipster I_Leak_VN posted: “Another fun 5090 128G prototype 😂 super limited with ~13.2k USD price 😂” The post is the source of the approximately $13,200 figure; it does not establish that a seller offered the card or that anyone bought one. The tipster also described it as a prototype using GDDR7X and cautioned that it was “not the closest to anything on the market.” HotHardware reported that the poster did not appear to know the purported builder and that the apparent evidence was a screenshot of NVIDIA System Management Interface. HotHardware, September 8, 2025
Those details support reporting that a 128GB prototype and its price were claimed—not that the hardware was authenticated, commercially available, or sold for that amount.

How does that compare with NVIDIA’s official RTX 5090?
NVIDIA’s product page specifies the standard GeForce RTX 5090 with 32GB of GDDR7 memory and a 512-bit memory interface. It also lists 21,760 CUDA cores, 575W total graphics power, and 1,000W recommended system power. These are stock-card specifications; they do not verify or describe the alleged modified prototype. | GPU | Memory capacity | Status of the evidence |
|---|---|---|
| GeForce RTX 5090 | 32GB GDDR7 | NVIDIA’s official specification for the standard card. NVIDIA |
| Alleged modified RTX 5090 | 128GB claimed | Tipster claim; no independently authenticated sample or confirmed sale established. VideoCardz HotHardware |
| RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell | Up to 96GB | Professional GPU cited as a high-memory comparison. VideoCardz |
Why is the prototype claim disputed?
Coverage disagreed about how much the available evidence showed. Tom’s Hardware treated the screenshot’s reported 128GB detection and the stated price as signs that the modification might function commercially, while describing the unusual memory configuration it would require. VideoCardz’s September 9, 2025 assessment was more skeptical. It noted that GDDR7 then existed in 16Gb and 24Gb capacities, with no announced 32Gb part, and argued that the alleged GDDR7X prototype had not been demonstrated. The outlet also questioned the screenshot’s authenticity and flagged that its shown NVIDIA 550 driver branch predated Blackwell support. These are VideoCardz’s reported technical concerns, not independent proof that the card could not exist. VideoCardz, September 9, 2025
Neither the screenshot nor the price claim resolves those questions. The sources do not establish a seller, an independently authenticated sample, or a reproducible benchmark for the purported 128GB card.

What should buyers and GPU researchers compare instead?
For a real purchasing or workload decision, compare documented products rather than treating the rumored figure as an offer. The standard GeForce RTX 5090 is specified at 32GB; NVIDIA’s professional RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell is cited at up to 96GB. Capacity alone does not settle performance or suitability: memory bandwidth, software support, power requirements, warranty, and independently tested results matter too. NVIDIA VideoCardz
For AI workloads, TechRadar’s July 2, 2026 coverage discusses Intel Arc Pro B70 cards in four-card configurations totaling 128GB. It reports that an RTX 5090 is faster for some decoding tasks because of memory bandwidth, while a capacity-heavy model workload may benefit from the Arc configuration. Those are reported comparisons of those products, not tests of the alleged RTX 5090 modification. TechRadar, July 2, 2026
