When did Oblivion Remastered come out?
Bethesda launched The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on April 22, 2025, revisiting the 2006 role-playing game. Bethesda Game Studios described its aim as preserving the original rather than remaking it: “We never wanted to remake it – but remaster it – where the original game was there as you remember playing it, but seen through today’s technology.” (Bethesda Game Studios’ launch message, April 22, 2025)
“Available today” was accurate for that launch announcement, but is now historical wording. The later platform release was Nintendo Switch 2, on August 11, 2026. (Bethesda’s Switch 2 announcement)
What changed in the remaster?
Bethesda says it worked with Virtuos to update the 2006 RPG. The original game systems remain beneath a new presentation built with Unreal Engine 5, alongside gameplay refinements. These are Bethesda’s descriptions of the remaster rather than independent performance or quality assessments.

Which platforms can you play it on?
The April 2025 launch covered Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with availability through Game Pass. Bethesda announced the Nintendo Switch 2 version on August 11, 2026. Platform-specific performance figures below are only for the Switch 2 release; Bethesda’s cited platform information does not provide comparable resolution and frame-rate figures for the other versions.

Standard Edition
Bethesda’s standard edition includes the digital base game, the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine story expansions, and additional downloadable content: Fighter’s Stronghold, Spell Tomes, Vile Lair, Mehrune’s Razor, The Thieves Den, Wizard’s Tower, The Orrery, and Horse Pack Armor. Digital Deluxe Edition and upgrade
The Digital Deluxe Edition adds quests for unique Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon armor, weapons, and horse armor sets, plus a digital artbook and soundtrack app. The Digital Deluxe Upgrade requires the base game; it is not a standalone copy.
Physical Deluxe Edition
Bethesda announced a Physical Deluxe Edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X on October 13, 2025. The disc grants access to the base game, while a code provides the digital extras; an additional download is required. Bethesda characterized it as a limited-time release through select regional stores and advised checking local retailers for availability and pricing.
