No—not between PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. As of Bethesda production director Bill LaCoste’s June 2026 interview, the studio was still investigating Fallout 76 cross-play and cross-progression, but had nothing on its immediate roadmap to announce. Bethesda Support says characters cannot be moved between platforms. There is a limited exception for Steam and the Xbox app on PC, which share characters and progress when linked to the same Bethesda.net account.
Does Fallout 76 have cross-play?
Fallout 76 does not currently let players on separate platforms join one another’s games. For example, an Xbox player cannot use cross-play to play with a PlayStation player. Bethesda has not announced a launch date or committed roadmap slot for cross-play.

LaCoste said in June 2026 that players had asked for the feature for a long time and that Bethesda continued to investigate it, but added: “We don’t have anything on the roadmap just right now.” That is an update on ongoing consideration, not a promise that cross-play will be added. Does Fallout 76 have cross-progression?
Fallout 76 does not generally carry a character or its progress between console and PC, or between console platforms. Bethesda Support says it cannot move characters between platforms and that PC and console progression are separate. Bethesda Support: character transfers

Steam and the Xbox app on PC share progress—with limits
On PC, Bethesda says Fallout 76 characters, progression, and items are available through either Steam or the Xbox app for PC if both storefronts are used with the same Bethesda.net account. This is a PC storefront exception, not cross-progression between PC and console.

What Bethesda says makes cross-play and cross-progression difficult
LaCoste has described the work as a major technical hurdle because Fallout 76 has to account for differences between platform systems. In the June 2026 interview, he cited platform-specific accounts, entitlements, achievements and trophies, and social menus. In remarks reported in October 2025, he also said that cross-platform capabilities are usually decisions made at the beginning of a game’s development, rather than additions made later. No cross-play announcement was included in Bethesda’s August 26, 2026 announcement of a public test for native PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions. The announcement covers console versions and testing for stability and frame rate; it does not say players on different platforms can play together. Bethesda also says progress made in the public test does not carry over to the live game. That test-to-live reset is separate from the question of whether a live character can move between platforms.
