- Check that the game finished installing. If it is still downloading or installing, wait for completion before launching it again. PlayStation includes confirming a full download and installation in its digital-game crash guidance.
- Check for an Off The Grid update. Highlight the game on the PS5 home screen, press the Options button, then choose Check for Update. Install an available update and test again.
- Update PS5 system software. Check the console’s system software update settings and install any available update. PlayStation includes current system software among its game-start troubleshooting checks: How to troubleshoot issues when starting a game.
- Restart the PS5. Use the console’s power menu to restart it, then launch the game again. A restart is a basic platform-level check, not a verified Off The Grid-specific workaround.
- Test whether a save is involved, without deleting it casually. PlayStation suggests trying the game from the beginning without an existing save. Do not delete saved data as a first move: back it up first and understand that deleting local data can remove progress that is not backed up. If you cannot safely test a new game state, skip this step.
- Move the game off USB extended storage if applicable. If Off The Grid is installed on USB extended storage, move it to the PS5’s internal storage and try again. This is a PlayStation launch-troubleshooting step, not evidence that USB storage is a known cause of this game’s crashes.
- Delete and reinstall the game if simpler checks fail. Reinstalling can replace damaged or incomplete game files. Be sure you understand what data is stored locally and back up anything important before removing data; then download the game again and test it.

Follow the current official instructions for entering Safe Mode and choosing those options. They are distinct from a full system reset and are not guaranteed to resolve a crash.
- Report a persistent Off The Grid-only crash to its support team. Use the support widget or ticket flow, or the PS5 bug-report Discord subchannel if it is currently available. Include the symptom, reproduction steps, relevant mode or location, and your screenshot or clip. - Contact PlayStation if multiple games crash. When the problem extends beyond Off The Grid, use PlayStation Support and its Repairs route for console-level help. A console reset is a more disruptive option, not an early fix: PlayStation warns that it erases locally stored data and says to back up game data before resetting.

The official material available here does not confirm a current Off The Grid-specific PS5 crash cause, workaround, or patch.
