OlliOlli World is a skateboarding action-platformer whose accessible controls open into a deep trick-and-combo system. Reviews largely praise its feel, inventive courses, music, and visual style; its story and multiplayer are less compelling. It is a strong fit for players who enjoy improving runs and chasing scores, rather than those looking for a story-led campaign or substantial real-time multiplayer.
What reviewers say about OlliOlli World
The core appeal is the contrast between simple inputs and a surprisingly intricate skating system. You can learn the basics and progress through courses without mastering every technique, while linking tricks, grinds, and manuals into longer combos gives skilled players room to optimize runs and pursue higher scores.
Meristation describes the game as teaching mechanics progressively and encouraging players to revisit levels. Metacritic’s critic excerpts similarly praise the polished trick system and its approachability. That balance—easy to begin, rewarding to refine—is the strongest thread in the reviews.
Reviewers also highlight the course design, soundtrack, and vibrant art direction. Courses offer multiple paths and challenges, while customization rewards give players more to pursue than simply reaching the finish. Meristation’s review sums up its mood this way: “Es difícil no jugar a OlliOlli World con una sonrisa en la cara.” (“It is hard not to play OlliOlli World with a smile on your face.”)

Where the reviews find weaknesses
- Story: The narrative is comparatively slight; a Metacritic critic excerpt calls it uninteresting. The game’s main draw is skating, not a story-heavy campaign.
- Difficulty: A Metacritic critic excerpt flags a late difficulty spike. The skill ceiling is part of the appeal, but the challenge can rise sharply for some players.
- Multiplayer: Meristation describes the multiplayer options as limited, and critic excerpts call for more. The cited material supports score comparison and online competition, not a robust real-time multiplayer experience.
- Level editing: A Metacritic excerpt also notes the absence of a level editor.
How strong is the critical reception?
When accessed in 2026, Metacritic listed an 84 Metascore from 38 critic reviews, classified as “Generally Favorable,” and a user score of 7.1 from 98 ratings. These are snapshots: scores and review counts can change.
Steam’s live store page separately showed “Very Positive,” with 93% positive among 898 purchaser reviews at access in 2026. That is a different review pool from Metacritic’s critic and user ratings, so the figures should not be combined or treated as directly comparable.

Is OlliOlli World worth playing?
It is most worth considering if you like learning a movement system, replaying courses, and finding better lines or combos. You can make progress without perfect runs, but the game’s longer-term appeal comes from improving scores and taking on harder challenges. If your priority is a substantial narrative or deep multiplayer modes, the cited reviews suggest looking elsewhere.
