Bandai Namco describes the game as musou action built around fighting hordes with One Piece characters, and identifies Koei Tecmo Games as the developer on its official product page.

It may be a weaker fit if mission-to-mission variety or intricate tactics matter more to you than combat spectacle. The critical case for the game is strongest on the feel of its action; the main reservation is that the surrounding structure may not keep that action feeling fresh for everyone.

In a 2020 review, Meristation praised the revised combat and combo system for feeling more satisfying and involved. The same review criticized frustrating camera behavior, simplified mission design, and less tactical depth than expected. Meristation disclosed that its review used a PS4 Pro download code supplied by Bandai Namco. This is one historically situated review, not a platform-wide test or a statement of universal consensus.

Bandai Namco announced versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, describing visual enhancements and additional enemies on screen. The publisher also says the new-generation release includes DLC content from the original release. These are publisher claims; check the relevant platform’s current listing for availability, compatibility, included content, and any upgrade cost.
