ONE PIECE World Seeker is a Luffy-led action-adventure with an original story, island exploration, Gum-Gum traversal, combat and skill progression. Reviews are mixed overall: Metacritic’s snapshot shows a 58 Metascore, while Steam’s English user reviews are Mostly Positive. That split suggests a game whose appeal depends heavily on what you want from a One Piece adventure—not a consensus recommendation for every player.
What is ONE PIECE World Seeker?
Developed by GANBARION and published by BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment, ONE PIECE World Seeker is a single-player action-adventure set on Prison Island, formerly known as Jewel Island. Its story follows Luffy and the Straw Hats as they become caught up in a conflict on the island. Luffy works with Jeanne and an anti-Navy militia. The publisher presents it as a new story told from Luffy’s point of view, rather than identifying it as a retelling of a particular anime arc. See the official product page and launch announcement.

What do the reviews say?
The review picture differs by platform and audience. In the Metacritic snapshot accessed in 2026, the game had a 58 Metascore from 46 critic reviews: 15% positive (7 reviews), 70% mixed (32), and 15% negative (7). Metacritic also showed a 5.0 user score from 240 ratings. These are separate Metacritic aggregates, not a universal measure of how players will respond. View Metacritic’s reviews and score details.
Steam’s listing showed English-language user reviews as “Mostly Positive,” with 79% positive from 2,098 reviews in the snapshot accessed in 2026. Steam counts and labels can change, and this is not directly comparable to Metacritic’s critic score or user rating. Check the Steam listing for its current review status.
#1 Best Overall
- A One Piece adventure with a new Island to explore
- Explore seamless and expansive areas in an all-new ONE PIECE tale
- Experience what it feels to be Luffy with all of his abilities
- An Epic Adventure to celebrate One Piece's 20th Anniversary!
The mixed critic record captures the key trade-off: the original story and franchise appeal are a draw, but reviews also raised concerns about polish and gameplay. For example, App Trigger’s March 14, 2019 review excerpt on Metacritic praised the visuals and story for serious fans while criticizing the lack of polish and unpleasant gameplay. That is one review’s judgment, not a description every player will share.
What kind of gameplay does it offer?
Island traversal
The publisher describes Prison Island as an expansive, seamless environment to explore. Luffy’s extending Gum-Gum ability lets him swing and glide around it, making movement a central part of the adventure rather than just a way to get between fights.

Combat and progression
Documented combat features include Haki attacks and skill trees for battle, mobility and stealth. The publisher’s launch announcement presents those systems alongside exploration and movement; it does not establish that combat or open-world design received consistent critical praise. Its characterization of the game as offering “solid action-RPG gameplay” was promotional language from Randy Le, an associate brand manager at BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc., in the March 15, 2019 launch announcement.
Who is likely to enjoy it?
- Consider it if an original One Piece story, Luffy as the lead, and the chance to explore a new island are your main attractions.
- Be more cautious if you want a game with broadly strong critic reviews or consistently praised open-world design; the critic aggregate is mixed, and the cited review example flags polish and gameplay concerns.
- Look beyond the headline scores if review sentiment matters to you: Metacritic’s critic and user figures and Steam’s English-language review snapshot measure different audiences in different ways.
Which platforms and PC requirements should you check?
The official publisher page lists PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Steam records the PC release as March 14, 2019; BANDAI NAMCO America’s launch announcement is dated March 15, 2019 and lists PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam. These are the dates reported by the respective storefront and announcement, not a single harmonized release date.

Does the DLC change what you should buy?
Steam lists an Episode Pass and three additional episode packs: Extra Episode 1: Void Mirror Prototype, Extra Episode 2: Where Justice Lies, and Extra Episode 3: The Unfinished Map. Steam says the Digital Deluxe Edition includes the base game, Episode Pass and bonus items. DLC is optional additional content, so decide whether you want the main game alone or those extra episodes before choosing an edition. Availability and pricing can vary by region and platform, and Steam’s DLC should not be assumed compatible with console versions. Confirm the platform and edition on the store where you plan to buy.
