Order of the Sinking Star is designed for exploration, experimentation, and returning to puzzles later—not for rushing through one fixed route. Its four worlds introduce distinct mechanics that eventually intertwine, so the most useful approach is to learn each world’s rules, track what changes as new heroes and mechanics appear, and move on when a challenge stops yielding progress.

This is a spoiler-light strategy guide, not a verified walkthrough. The official Steam listing still showed the game as not yet available on October 7, 2026, ahead of its planned October 8 launch (October 9 in some regions). Specific puzzle solutions and late-game progression are therefore not established here.

What makes the toughest challenges difficult?

Thekla, Inc. describes Order of the Sinking Star as a puzzle adventure with more than 1,000 handcrafted, interconnected puzzles across four worlds. Each world has its own foundations, and the official listing says the systems eventually intertwine as the worlds and characters meet. That means a puzzle may test more than a single trick: it can ask you to understand a local rule, notice how a hero changes what is possible, or recognize how mechanics work together.

The four named foundations point to the variety involved: Skipping Stones to Lonely Homes uses stones to make paths across water; Mirror Isles involves swapping places with reflections; Promesst 1–3 centers on exploring a cave with beams of light; and Heroes of Sokoban 1–3 features hero classes with different movement and pushing mechanics. These descriptions suggest what kinds of ideas the game draws on, but they do not reveal the exact rules or solutions of any particular challenge.

How should you approach a puzzle that seems stuck?

Read the world before assuming the rule

Treat early puzzles in a world as lessons in that world’s mechanics. Watch what changes when you interact with objects, characters, paths, reflections, or beams of light. Test one action at a time and observe the result before building a larger plan around it.

Do not assume a mechanic behaves identically in another world. The official description emphasizes distinct worlds and evolving mechanics; carrying a familiar rule over without testing it can lead you to overlook what a new setting changes.

Track what a new hero or mechanic enables

The Steam listing says the heroes have complementary abilities and that puzzle systems intertwine. When a new character or mechanic appears, note what it lets you do differently: for example, whether a movement or pushing interaction changes. A short record of observed rules can help you distinguish a real pattern from a guess when puzzles later combine systems.

This is general puzzle-solving advice, not a developer-prescribed procedure. The official pages do not provide a specific sequence of steps for solving named puzzles.

Change puzzles when progress stalls

The official description says you can move between worlds, explore at your own pace, and revisit challenges. If repeated attempts are not teaching you anything new, switch to another available puzzle or world and return later. That is consistent with the stated structure; it is not a claim that a particular blocker has a hidden shortcut or that the game requires a particular route.

Is there a required order for the four worlds?

The official materials describe roaming between worlds and revisiting challenges, rather than prescribing one mandatory world order. Follow the opportunities the game presents, and return to earlier puzzles when you have learned more. No authoritative recommended order is established by the official pages cited here.

Collected notes also contribute to the game’s mystery. Read them as part of your exploration, but keep story interpretation separate from mechanical deductions: a note may add context without proving how a puzzle object behaves.

How can you use hints without spoiling the puzzle?

For players who want to preserve discovery, hints are most useful in increasing levels of detail. A sensible spoiler-light ladder is:

  1. Conceptual nudge: points your attention toward an overlooked object or relationship without stating a solution.
  2. Mechanic reminder: names a relevant rule or interaction while leaving the sequence of actions to you.
  3. Explicit steps: gives the complete solution for readers who want to move on.

This is an editorial way to organize help, not an official hint system confirmed by the game’s store or community pages. Before relying on a specific walkthrough, check that it covers the same puzzle and version, and decide how much of the solution you want to see.

What is confirmed about launch and platforms?

As of October 7, 2026, the official Steam listing said the full game was not yet available and gave October 8, 2026 as the planned release date. The official community announcement says regional launch timing reaches October 9. It lists PC via Steam and Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5 as platforms. The community page reports Steam Deck Verified status, but that status is not a first-hand performance assessment of a particular device.

The September 24, 2026 community announcement gives a $29.99 launch price and describes 10% launch bundles with Mewgenics, Animal Well, and the original soundtrack. These are time-sensitive launch details; check the relevant storefront for current price, availability, region, and bundle terms.

The Steam listing shows interface and subtitles in 11 languages, with full audio listed for English and Simplified Chinese. Its listed minimum PC requirements are 64-bit Windows 10 or later, an Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen R5 1600, 8 GB RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Ti, AMD Radeon RX 580, or Intel Arc A380, DirectX 12, and 14 GB storage. Recommended requirements are an Intel Core i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen R5 3600, 16 GB RAM, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2070 Ti, AMD Radeon RX 5700, or Intel Arc B5700, DirectX 12, and 14 GB storage. Check the current listing before relying on these specifications, particularly the listed GPU names.
