For an OSRS hard clue coordinate step, read the north/south and east/west coordinates, bring a spade, and verify access and encounter requirements for that exact spot. One documented hard clue coordinate was moved in 2025, so an old screenshot may point to the wrong place.

How OSRS coordinate clues work

Coordinates identify a position on the game map using north or south latitude and east or west longitude. The OSRS Wiki explains that one game square equals 15/8 (1.875) minutes of arc, and that 0°00′ north, 0°00′ east is at the Observatory. See the OSRS Wiki coordinate clue guide.

Read both parts of the clue carefully: the first gives the north/south position and the second gives east/west. A chart, sextant, and watch may help determine your position, but you need a spade in your inventory to dig at the coordinate.

Check access and prepare for the encounter

Requirements vary by clue location, so identify the exact coordinate before setting out. The coordinate 00°00′N, 07°13′W requires Regicide, and the guide describes a Saradomin wizard encounter there. In the Wilderness, a Zamorak wizard may appear instead; Wilderness locations also expose you to player-versus-player risk. The guide’s location-specific details are at OSRS Wiki coordinate clue guide.

  • Bring a spade for the coordinate dig.
  • Check whether the destination requires a quest or access to a particular area.
  • Prepare for the wizard encounter associated with that location.
  • If the coordinate is in the Wilderness, account for the possibility of player-versus-player combat.

One hard clue coordinate changed in 2025

The clue at 23°03′N, 41°24′E leads to a small island north of Fossil Island. Its clue-page record says the step moved west on 20 August 2025, which means older maps and screenshots may show an outdated position. Check the updated entry for that clue at 23°03′N, 41°24′E clue location.

What to verify when a coordinate step does not work

  • Recheck the digits and the N/S and E/W labels; reversing either direction changes the destination.
  • Confirm that your map or screenshot reflects the current location, especially for the coordinate changed in 2025.
  • Make sure you have a spade in your inventory and meet any quest or area-access requirement for that spot.
  • Expect the location-specific wizard encounter, and treat a Wilderness destination as a PvP area.

The cited pages establish coordinate mechanics and specific location details, but they do not provide a complete current catalogue of hard clue steps, trail length, preparation requirements for every step, or a reward table. Use the coordinate-specific clue page for the step you are solving rather than assuming every hard clue follows the same route or requirements.
