OSRS has three raids in scope here: Chambers of Xeric (CoX), Theatre of Blood (ToB), and Tombs of Amascut (ToA). They are endgame PvM, but the available evidence does not support a reliable current ranking of their difficulty, gear demands, or beginner suitability. The clearest starting point for a learner is ToA’s documented invocation system, which lets players configure raid difficulty; that makes the challenge adjustable, not automatically easy. Learn a raid by confirming its live requirements, practising one encounter at a time, and increasing the challenge only when you can explain and repeat your decisions.

What are the OSRS raids?

Raids are multi-encounter PvM activities built around learning mechanics and executing consistently, often with a team. The three raids discussed here are Chambers of Xeric, Theatre of Blood, and Tombs of Amascut. This guide focuses on how to approach learning them without treating old polls, proposed changes, or a general overview as proof of every current in-game detail.

The evidence supports a concrete structural description of ToA and historical update context for CoX. It does not establish a current room-by-room comparison, exact access requirements, or beginner progression for ToB. Avoid using an unsupported difficulty ranking or a one-size-fits-all gear list as a substitute for that information.

How do the three raids compare?

This table separates what the cited material establishes from details it does not establish. Polls record proposals and votes; they do not, by themselves, confirm that a change reached the live game.

Raid Structure and difficulty What the cited material does not establish
Chambers of Xeric (CoX) Jagex’s October 2023 Chambers of Xeric Room Improvements poll covered proposed changes involving Tekton, Vasa Nistirio, Muttadiles, Vespula, and Olm. Jagex’s 2025 Poll 84 proposed a consistent-layout option for regular raids, described as not including Challenge Mode’s increased difficulty or rewards; the result page recorded 88.1% yes. Those poll pages do not establish that each proposal was implemented, or provide a current account of the complete room order, party-size effects, or learning progression.
Theatre of Blood (ToB) The cited material does not state a current encounter order or difficulty-setting system. Current access requirements, room-by-room advice, party expectations, and a beginner progression are not established here.
Tombs of Amascut (ToA) The OSRS Wiki overview describes four themed paths—Apmeken, Crondis, Het, and Scabaras—with a challenge and boss on each, followed by a final encounter. It describes selectable invocations and Entry, Normal, and Expert raid-level bands. The overview is community-maintained; check current in-game or official information for live mechanics, thresholds, and scaling. The cited material does not provide a defensible cross-raid difficulty ranking.

Which OSRS raid should you learn first?

If you want a starting point based on the evidence available here, consider ToA because its invocation system allows players to configure the challenge. That is a practical reason to explore it first, not proof that it is the easiest raid or the right choice for every account. Exact invocation thresholds and combat scaling should be checked in current in-game or official documentation rather than inferred from a general overview.

Choose your first raid using information you can verify for your account and goals:

  • Confirm access first. Jagex’s January 2022 Tombs of Amascut, Quests & GIM Improvements poll described completion of Beneath Cursed Sands as a requirement in the proposal. A historical proposal is not sufficient confirmation of the live quest gate; check the current game before planning a run.
  • Look for a practice setting. For ToA, the overview describes Entry, Normal, and Expert bands configured through invocations. Confirm the present labels and mechanics before relying on an old overview. The cited material does not establish comparable beginner modes for CoX or ToB.
  • Match the raid to your group and learning style. Before committing, find current guidance for party size, encounter order, and coordination in the particular raid. The sources cited here do not support a current comparison of those factors across all three raids.
  • Prefer repeatable learning over a difficulty label. A raid is a productive first target when you can identify what caused a failed attempt, practise that skill, and return with a specific adjustment.

What is the easiest OSRS raid?

No defensible answer is established by the sources cited here. “Easiest” can mean easiest to access, most forgiving on an early attempt, simplest to learn solo or with a team, or most adjustable to a player’s ability. Those are different comparisons, and a poll about a possible update or a broad raid overview cannot settle them.

ToA’s configurable invocations make its difficulty adjustable according to the overview, but that alone does not show how it compares with CoX or ToB for a particular player. Check current mechanics and requirements, then judge difficulty by your own successful practice attempts rather than relying on an unqualified ranking.

How do you build a raid-learning routine?

Use a loop that turns each attempt into a specific lesson. These are general practice steps, not a room-by-room route for any one raid.

  1. Confirm the live rules. Check the current access requirements, encounter structure, and available difficulty settings for the raid you chose. Do not assume a past poll proposal is live.
  2. Set one goal for the run. Pick a manageable focus, such as recognizing a mechanic or improving a particular decision. Avoid trying to fix every mistake at once.
  3. Record the failure point. After an attempt, note the encounter, what happened immediately before the mistake, and whether the cause was recognition, timing, positioning, or coordination. Treat these as prompts, not a claim that every raid uses the same mechanics.
  4. Change one variable. Practise the identified skill or adjust a difficulty setting when the game allows it. Keeping other choices stable makes it easier to see whether the change helped.
  5. Repeat before increasing the challenge. Move on when you can explain the relevant decision and reproduce it, not merely after one lucky clear.

How do Tombs of Amascut invocations work?

The OSRS Wiki’s ToA overview describes invocations as selectable settings that configure raid level, with Entry, Normal, and Expert bands. They provide a way to adjust the raid’s challenge rather than choosing from only one fixed setting. Because the cited overview is community-maintained and exact thresholds or combat scaling can change, confirm current details in-game or through official documentation before selecting a raid level.

For learning, make a deliberate adjustment rather than changing several settings without a clear reason. Keep track of what you selected and what became harder; that helps you decide whether to repeat the same configuration or revise it. The available material does not support printing exact thresholds, a complete invocation list, or precise scaling formulas.

What gear do you need for OSRS raids?

The cited material does not establish current gear requirements, optimal loadouts, or prices for any of the three raids. A universal gear list would be misleading: the useful setup depends on the raid, your account, the task at hand, and the current game. Do not treat the reward names in a historical poll as a gear recommendation.

Before a run, use current raid-specific guidance to check required equipment, supplies, and any role-specific choices. Keep the first learning goal focused on execution; upgrades cannot replace understanding what an encounter asks you to do.

What rewards are associated with Tombs of Amascut?

Jagex’s March 2022 Tombs of Amascut Rewards poll named proposed rewards including Masori armour, the Heka of Tumeken, the Ward of Elidinis, Lightbearer, Osmumten’s fang, and the Stat Renewal Potion. These names provide examples from that proposal, not current price guidance, drop-rate information, or a best-in-slot ranking. Check current game information for the live reward pool and item details.

What should you verify before a raid attempt?

  • Current access and quest requirements for your account.
  • The live encounter order and mechanics, particularly where you are relying on an older overview or a proposed update.
  • Whether the raid has a difficulty or practice setting, and what selecting it currently changes.
  • Current party expectations and role-specific preparation from a raid-specific guide.
  • Whether any reward, item, or layout claim comes from a proposal, an implemented update, or current game information.

For CoX, Jagex’s October 2023 room-improvement poll and 2025 Poll 84 are useful historical records, but check official update information before treating a proposed mechanic or layout as live. For ToA, the Wiki overview is useful for its broad path structure; use current in-game or official sources for mechanics and thresholds. The material cited here is not enough to give comparable current ToB instructions.
