To unlock all three Outbreak Perfected intrinsic upgrades from Zero Hour’s Vaulted Obstacles, complete each symbol stage and its matching Cryptarch Vault terminal sequence. Equip Outbreak Perfected to shoot the symbols, use the projector to determine their order, then follow the vault television diagram. The three puzzle chains advance The Corruption Spreads intrinsic and contribute to the Vimana Junker ship schematic.
Before you start: which Zero Hour puzzles are these?
Zero Hour is a reprised Destiny 2 Exotic mission. Bungie’s Into the Light page describes its return alongside The Whisper and the opportunity to earn craftable Outbreak Perfected and Whisper of the Worm. Mission availability can change as activities cycle through the Destiny Content Vault; Bungie explains that model on its Destiny Content Vault page. Check the in-game Director to confirm Zero Hour is currently launchable.
These three symbol-and-vault puzzle chains are separate from Ada-1’s Outbreak Refined switch quests. The puzzles grant levels of The Corruption Spreads intrinsic and Vimana Junker schematic progress. The switch quests unlock additional craftable perks instead. The intrinsic tiers open additional barrel, magazine, and stock options, according to a Bungie Help forum support response dated June 17, 2026.
How each puzzle chain works
- At the puzzle’s activation area, deal with enemies as needed and interact with the clearance panel.
- Have Outbreak Perfected equipped. Shoot the three matching SIVA symbols in the order shown on the panel or nearby holographic projector. The order can vary, so check the display rather than relying on a memorized sequence.
- Continue to the Cryptarch Vault and read the television diagram. It identifies the active room and the terminal sequence for that puzzle.
- Activate the six terminals in the sequence listed below. Completing a vault advances the intrinsic and contributes a piece toward the ship schematic.
Puzzle 1: second combat area
Activate the symbols
In the second combat area, where a Brig, Shanks, and Vandals appear, clear or evade the enemies, go above the entry debris, and interact with the wall panel. The clearance buff is reported as lasting 30 seconds in the Shacknews guide linked below. Shoot the three symbols in the projector’s order:

Enter the Cryptarch Vault sequence
Read the first puzzle’s television arrows from top to bottom, then activate these terminals in order:
- Top-right terminal inside its room.
- Lower-right terminal inside its room.
- Lower-left terminal in the hallway.
- Lower-left terminal inside its room.
- Upper-left terminal inside its room.
- Upper-left terminal in the hallway.
This vault awards The Corruption Spreads 2 and a Vimana Junker schematic piece.

Puzzle 2: aircraft landing pad
Activate the symbols
On the landing pad, enter the vent behind the aircraft; do not go under its nose. Interact with the panel inside. The Shacknews guide reports a clearance window of roughly 40 seconds. Use the projector to order the symbols at these locations:
- Beneath the stairs on the aircraft’s level.
- Beside the stairs at the middle level.
- On the upper-level wall.
Enter the Cryptarch Vault sequence
The television shows the active upper-left room, where the terminals form a diamond. Activate:

- Raised left terminal inside the room.
- Lower-right terminal in the hallway.
- Middle terminal in the hallway.
- Upper terminal inside the room.
Completing this vault awards The Corruption Spreads 3 and another Vimana Junker schematic piece.
Puzzle 3: TR3-VR hallways
Activate the symbols
In the hallways patrolled by TR3-VR, the three symbols are along the left side. Their order changes, so consult the projector along the left path:

Activate the terminals in this order:
- Middle terminal in the main hallway.
- Upper-right terminal in the main hallway.
- Lower-right terminal inside the room.
- Upper-right terminal inside the room.
- Top terminal inside the room.
- Bottom terminal inside the room.
This final vault awards The Corruption Spreads 4 and the last Vimana Junker schematic piece.

A Bungie Help support response dated June 17, 2026 says the remaining intrinsic puzzle chain should no longer be gated by a weekly wait and that defeating the boss is not required after completing the puzzle portion for the remaining intrinsic tiers. This is support guidance rather than a formal patch note; later game updates could change the behavior.
