Outcast Tales is listed on Steam for release in 2026. Hardlane Studio says the full game will be free from day one, with no in-game store, no real-money currency and no season pass. A free demo is already playable. One outlet has reported October 26, 2026 as the launch day, but the official Steam listing shows only the year, so treat that date as reported rather than officially confirmed.
When the full game launches
The Steam store listing for Outcast Tales shows 2026 as the release year and does not give a day. Kicks & Grips reported October 26, 2026 in an article published October 8, 2026, and that is the only exact date in the coverage reviewed for this article. If you need a specific day for planning, check the store page on the day you read this, because the listing is the source the developer controls.
What “free” means in this release
Hardlane Studio’s September 14, 2026 Steam announcement, “Outcast Tales will be free”, says the complete game will be free and gives the reasoning in a single line: “No store. No currency you buy with real money. No Season 12 anything. Just the whole game, from day one.” The announcement is attributed to the studio and game, not to a named individual.
The announcement also names Inner Pocket as the publisher behind the decision, and says the developers announced Inner Pocket as their new publisher in August 2026. The developer lists English and Russian as the initial release languages.

The demo you can play now
The Outcast Tales Demo was released on Steam on September 10, 2026. Hardlane Studio’s Steam Community announcement, “The Free Outcast Tales Demo Is Out!”, from September 2026, describes it as a larger version than the earlier prologue. The table below compares the two as the developer describes them.

Save carryover
The developer states that progress from the demo can be carried into the main game. That is a promise from the studio. It has not been independently verified, so keep demo saves only if you are willing to rely on that promise and accept that the transfer could change before launch.
