SteamCharts reported an average of 71,282.58 concurrent Overwatch players on Steam in February 2026, with a monthly peak of 164,636. SteamDB recorded a higher peak of 165,651 on February 10, a figure also reported by PC Gamer. These are Steam-only counts of players online at the same time—not unique monthly players or the total population across PC and consoles.
Overwatch 2’s February 2026 Steam player count
For the full month, SteamCharts lists an average of 71,282.58 concurrent players and a peak of 164,636. Its figures describe activity on Steam, not everyone playing Overwatch across Battle.net, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo platforms. SteamCharts’ Overwatch charts identify the metric as Steam concurrent players and note that the site is not affiliated with Valve.

The values are not interchangeable: SteamCharts’ monthly table reports a February peak of 164,636, while SteamDB reports a February 10 record of 165,651. PC Gamer independently reported the 165,651 figure on February 11, attributing it to the launch of Reign of Talon Season 1. SteamDB’s chart and its timestamps use UTC; PC Gamer’s February 11 report gives the contemporaneous context.

What the player-count numbers measure
Concurrent players, not unique monthly players
Concurrency counts how many people are playing at the same time. The 71,282.58 average is the average concurrent Steam population over the measured month; it does not mean that exactly 71,283 distinct people played during February. A peak is a high-water mark at a particular point, not a monthly total.

Steam data, not an all-platform total
Steam trackers cannot establish how many people played through Battle.net or consoles. PC Gamer said it did not have Battle.net player-count figures, and GamesRadar likewise reported that concrete counts outside Steam were not readily available. The February Steam numbers therefore should not be added to, or presented as, a cross-platform population. GamesRadar’s February 23 report discusses the limits of the available non-Steam figures.
How February’s count changed
SteamCharts lists a January 2026 average of 27,950.22 concurrent players and a peak of 42,705. For February 2025, it lists an average of 24,089.86 and a peak of 58,897. These comparisons use the same tracker and its Steam concurrency measure; they are not estimates of all-platform monthly users. The January-to-February jump coincided with the February 10 seasonal launch, but timing alone does not prove that the launch was the sole cause.

- Games requires PlayStation Plus to play
After the February 10 record, GamesRadar reported a Steam peak of 136,582 during February 20–22. The same report described a 122,715 peak over the first launch weekend. These shorter windows differ from SteamCharts’ full-month average and monthly peak, so they are useful as dated snapshots rather than substitutes for the monthly figures.

Why older Overwatch player totals do not answer the question
Blizzard announced that more than 25 million players had joined Overwatch 2 during its first ten days after launch in October 2022. That was a historical launch-period total, not a February 2026 monthly-active count or concurrent-player figure, and it cannot be directly compared with Steam’s February concurrency. Blizzard’s October 14, 2022 announcement supplies that launch-era statistic.

How to read future Overwatch player-count claims
- Check the platform: Steam-only figures do not include Battle.net or console activity.
- Check the measure: average concurrency, a single peak, and unique monthly players describe different things.
- Check the time window and tracker: a record day, weekend peak, and full-month average cannot be compared as if they were the same statistic.
- Keep source differences visible: for February 2026, SteamCharts’ monthly peak is 164,636, while SteamDB and PC Gamer report 165,651 for February 10.
