Overwatch 2 Season 15 launched February 18, 2025. It began that year’s Competitive Season, introduced Perks for all 41 heroes, brought back earnable Loot Boxes, and included a planned free trial of Freja ahead of her Season 16 debut. The dates and reward tracks below describe the historical 2025 season; they are not current offers.
When did Overwatch 2 Season 15 start?
Season 15 launched on February 18, 2025, and marked the start of the 2025 Competitive Season. Blizzard called it “Honor And Glory” in its Season 15 launch patch notes and introduced Perks, selectable hero upgrades that unlocked during a match. Blizzard described the feature as one that “lets players unlock mid-match hero upgrades, providing more choice and strategy.” Perks were added to all 41 heroes and were available in Quick Play and Competitive.

When could players try Freja?
Blizzard announced that Freja would join Overwatch 2 in Season 16, with a free trial weekend planned for later in Season 15. Its Season 15 Spotlight announcement said, “Freja will join Overwatch 2 in Season 16, but you’ll get a taste of her kit during a free trial weekend later in Season 15.” Blizzard’s midseason post included the Hero Trial among the season’s content, but the official passages available here do not establish the trial’s exact dates or eligibility terms. The trial window was a 2025 event, not an ongoing offer.

- Weekly standard boxes: Players could earn up to three by completing up to 27 games each week. Wins counted as two games toward the total.
- Perked Up event boxes: During the event, challenges offered up to 10 additional boxes per week for completing up to 15 games, with wins also counting double. Challenges reset weekly, and boxes not earned before the reset were missed.
Contents and duplicate handling
A standard box contained four cosmetic items drawn at random from a curated collection of Overwatch and Overwatch 2 cosmetics. Blizzard said boxes prioritized items a player did not own. If duplicates could not be avoided, the box granted progress toward a bonus box. Any unopened boxes from an earlier season were scheduled to open automatically at the start of the next season.
Published drop chances and guarantees
Blizzard reported the following average chances for items in standard boxes. These are chances for each rarity, not mutually exclusive outcomes: a box contains multiple items, so the percentages total more than 100%.

The figures and guarantees were published by Blizzard Entertainment in 2025. Blizzard’s launch notes stated: “A Legendary item is guaranteed to drop within 20 consecutive box openings.”
What was in the Season 15 Battle Pass?
The Free and Premium tracks had different rewards. Blizzard did not state a price in the Season 15 passages cited here, so the comparison focuses on access and listed contents.

Blizzard said Battle Pass Loot Boxes were unavailable in Belgium. That regional restriction applied to the boxes, not a claim that all other listed rewards were unavailable there.

Season 15 combined a match-level gameplay change with a return to earnable cosmetic boxes: Perks gave players new upgrade choices during matches, while weekly game-completion rewards and Battle Pass tracks offered different ways to obtain cosmetics. Freja’s trial was another announced seasonal feature, but it was a limited historical window rather than a current way to try the hero.
