BioWare’s N7 Day 2025 update did contain a deliberate hidden message: “URL Krogan N7.” Following it led fans to concept art depicting a Krogan civil war. That confirms the studio was teasing fans, not that a Krogan civil war will appear in the next game. BioWare’s official update said the game was in development, but gave no title or release date.
What was the hidden message?
In his November 7, 2025 N7 Day update, executive producer Mike Gamble intermittently italicized characters. Excluding italics in the game title, those characters spelled “URL Krogan N7,” as PC Gamer reported.

The clue was a route to follow rather than a direct story announcement. Its initial destination redirected to a 2012 post about a Mass Effect 3 multiplayer challenge weekend. Another clue from the official Mass Effect account helped fans decode a route to Krogan civil-war concept art.
Does the Krogan art confirm the next game’s story?
No. The artwork depicts a Krogan civil war, and Gamble characterized the event as something in the “future.” That makes it a teaser about a possible future event in the Mass Effect universe, but it does not establish that the next game will include a Krogan civil war, where the game is set, or what role the Krogans might play.

The distinction matters: a hidden route to concept art is evidence of a deliberate tease, not a plot synopsis. BioWare has not provided an equivalent account of the game’s story or confirmed that the artwork represents a playable event.
What has BioWare officially said about the game?
In the official N7 Day 2025 update, Gamble wrote that “the next Mass Effect game is in development, and EA and BioWare remain committed to telling more stories in this universe.” He also said the team was “heads-down and focused exclusively on Mass Effect,” with features and romances still to build.

The update did not name the game or give a release date. It also did not announce platforms or provide detailed feature information. BioWare’s January 29, 2025 studio update had said a core team was developing the next Mass Effect under original-trilogy veterans including Mike Gamble, Preston Watamaniuk, Derek Watts, and Parrish Ley. That post also described staff being matched with other EA teams as part of a more focused studio structure; it is staffing context from January 2025, not a current headcount update.
Has BioWare shared anything newer about development?
GamesRadar reported that on April 22, 2026, project director and executive producer Michael Gamble replied to a fan: “Just busy workin’,” followed by “Not a lot of time for tease [sic].” The report was published the next day. It is a dated comment about the team’s workload, not a schedule, release-window update, or formal new reveal.

Is the Mass Effect TV series connected to this game update?
Gamble’s N7 Day post also discussed the series being developed with Amazon, but that is a separate project. He said its writers’ room was active and that the show would tell a brand-new story set after the original trilogy rather than retell Commander Shepard’s story. He described the show’s place in Mass Effect canon and its relationship to the new game, but those comments do not confirm the game’s plot.
