If Overwatch 2 voice chat is not working, first join the correct Team or Group channel and check your mute and push-to-talk settings. If those are correct, check account permissions, then follow the separate PC or console troubleshooting steps below. Blizzard lists several possible causes and does not identify one fix that works for everyone.
1. Join the right voice channel and check mute
Overwatch can place you in Team Voice Chat or, if you are grouped, Group Voice Chat. You may still need to select the channel you want to use.
- Open Social Menu > Channels.
- Select the headphone icon for Team Voice Chat or Group Voice Chat. During hero selection, you can also use the Join Team Chat button.
- Check whether you are muted in the channel. Look for the microphone icon beside your own name to see whether you have muted yourself.
If you can hear teammates but they cannot hear you, start with the self-mute check before changing other settings.
2. Check voice chat and push-to-talk settings
On PC, push-to-talk is the default. If you are unsure which key activates it, or the key is inconvenient, check or change it under Controls.

- Open Options > Sound.
- Make sure Group Voice Chat and Team Voice Chat are not set to Off.
- If you use push-to-talk, confirm the assigned key under Controls and press it while speaking.
These checks are especially relevant if you can hear other players but cannot talk, or cannot join a voice channel.
3. Check account and parental-control access
A silenced account cannot use voice chat. If your account is not silenced, check whether voice chat is allowed in parental controls and your Battle.net account’s Privacy Settings. On console, minors should also check the parental controls for their PlayStation Network or Xbox Live account.

4. Troubleshoot the audio device and software on PC
Blizzard Support warns that “Voice chat does not work correctly with Bluetooth devices.” If you are testing with a Bluetooth headset or microphone, try a non-Bluetooth audio device if one is available. This is a troubleshooting check, not a reason to assume every Bluetooth setup is the cause.

- Check your audio device and settings in Windows.
- Clear the Battle.net app cache.
- Reset Overwatch settings to their defaults.
- Update your drivers and operating system.
- Close other applications that may interfere with voice chat.
- Check firewall, router, or port settings that could affect voice traffic.
5. Check console controls or escalate PC and network issues
On console
- Confirm that you are not muted in the voice channel.
- Unplug or turn off additional connected controls and test again.
- Reset button mapping to its default configuration.
- Check both console parental controls and Battle.net parental controls.
Blizzard’s guide does not provide current PlayStation 5 or Xbox menu paths for these settings. Use the relevant console maker’s support instructions for exact menus rather than relying on an assumed path.
On PC
If the earlier checks have not helped, continue with the Windows audio, Battle.net cache, default game settings, driver and operating-system updates, conflicting applications, and network configuration checks in the previous section. Blizzard also suggests seeking help from its support community or a local technician, or asking your internet provider whether voice chat is being blocked.
