The season adds Doctrine, a vampire-inspired Support hero, and a crossover that Blizzard calls Overwatch x Shadow Monarch and Nexon Korea identifies with the Solo Leveling IP.
When did Overwatch Season 5 launch?
Blizzard’s English-language announcement dates the launch to October 6, 2026. Nexon Korea’s notice for its Korean PC service dates it to October 7. The dates reflect different local launch announcements, not necessarily a conflicting global schedule. See Blizzard’s Season 5 announcement and Nexon Korea’s launch notice.
Who is Doctrine, the new Overwatch hero?
Doctrine is Season 5’s new Support hero, built around a vampire concept. Blizzard describes the character as manipulating lifeforce on both sides of a fight. Nexon Korea’s announcement likewise says Doctrine can heal allies and damage enemies, and mentions an “Infusion” mechanic that strengthens the next ability used.
Those announcements establish the broad theme and role, but do not provide enough detail to explain exact ability behavior or numbers. Check the current in-game hero information and patch notes for specifics.
