The Painter’s Regret map is in a farmhouse north of Maxim’s Claim Party Camp in Emerald Stair. The treasure chest is at a campsite on a river overlook west of Fior mes Iverno, near the large bridge. You can open it without finding the map first; the reward is Painter’s Brush, which increases critical-hit chance by 5%.
Where to find the Painter’s Regret map
Look for the farmhouse north of Maxim’s Claim Party Camp in Emerald Stair. It is between Farmer’s Market and Elia’s Revenant Farm in southwest Maxim’s Claim, according to PC Gamer’s guide. The farmhouse’s main door is barred; go around to the right side and enter through the side door, as described by Gamer Guides.
How to reach the treasure chest
The campsite is on a ledge overlooking the river, west of Fior mes Iverno and close to the large bridge. The most direct landmark-based route described by PC Gamer starts at River Fork Beacon.
- Travel to River Fork Beacon, west of Fior mes Iverno.
- Face north toward the rocks and locate the cave, with the waterfall to your right.
- Approach the waterfall, then climb the rocky ledges on its left.
- Jump across the gaps to reach the campsite ledge and find the chest among the art supplies.
Destructoid’s guide describes another approach: from a party camp to the north, descend the rocky cliffs toward the treasure. It places the location southwest of Fior mes Iverno, north of Rootbound Godless Ruins and Belderreno’s Lair. These are different approaches to the same campsite; use the river, bridge, waterfall and ledge as visual landmarks if your map position differs.

No. PC Gamer reports that the chest can be looted before picking up the map. If you collect the map afterward, it automatically completes the treasure-map quest. You can therefore visit the campsite directly if you already know where it is.
