Catch Mottled Gobi by fishing in a pond in Kilima Valley, Bahari Bay, or your Housing Plot. It is available at any time of day, and Glow Worms are its preferred bait. You can also get one as a random drop when collecting from Boovars on your ranch.
Where to catch Mottled Gobi
The fish is listed in ponds across three areas. Any pond in the relevant area can work; the listing does not specify a particular named pond.
- Kilima Valley: Fish in a pond.
- Bahari Bay: Fish in a pond.
- Housing Plot: Fish in your plot’s pond.
Mottled Gobi is available at any time of day. The Official Palia Wiki’s item listing reproduces its in-game description as: “An under appreciated fish that feeds on excess pond algae. Found in ponds using glow worms.”
What bait to use
Use Glow Worms, which the listing identifies as the preferred bait. The fish is categorized as common. The separate Palia Database entry corroborates the pond locations, bait, and all-day availability.

Can you get Mottled Gobi without fishing?
Yes. Collecting from Boovars on your ranch can yield Mottled Gobi as a random drop. Unlike fishing, this method does not guarantee a catch.
