This Palworld guide hub brings together the main decisions new and returning players need to make: whether a PC meets Steam’s listed requirements, how to choose a multiplayer setup, and where to find focused help on collecting Pals, progression, base work, combat, breeding and troubleshooting. Game details change, so version-specific server and cross-play information is labeled rather than treated as a permanent promise.
What Palworld is—and what its dates mean
Pocketpair develops and publishes Palworld. Steam categorizes it as Action, Adventure, Indie and RPG. Steam lists July 9, 2026 as the release date and January 18, 2024 as the Early Access date; these are Steam’s labels and should not be taken as dates for other platforms. For a quick start, use this hub to identify the kind of help you need, then check the relevant dated guide or official documentation before relying on a changeable detail such as platform compatibility, server settings, creature locations or counts.
Choose the guide for your next goal
- New player setup: Start with beginner guidance for initial setup and early objectives. For basic PC readiness, compare your system against Steam’s requirements below.
- Collecting and exploration: Use Pal-location and collection guides when looking for particular Pals. Locations can change or be incomplete in newly updated guides; check the guide’s date and game version.
- Progression and equipment: Look for guides focused on progression, equipment and technology when deciding what to pursue next.
- Base work: Use base-planning and worker-assignment guides for organizing a base and its Pal workforce.
- Combat: Consult boss, combat and party-composition guides when preparing for a specific encounter.
- Breeding: Use a dedicated breeding guide for combinations and results; confirm that its information matches the game version you play.
- Multiplayer: Decide first whether you need a world that stays online when its host leaves. The options and their trade-offs are compared below.
- Troubleshooting: For PC performance or launch issues, check the platform’s stated requirements and support information before changing settings.
These are useful guide categories, not a claim that every topic has a currently published page on this site. Palpedia is a fan-maintained resource, not Pocketpair’s official wiki. Its Palworld server setup guide was updated August 12, 2026; treat it as community guidance and verify platform or version-sensitive claims against official documentation.

Check whether your Windows PC meets Steam’s requirements
The figures below are Steam’s listed Windows PC minimum and recommended requirements, not independent performance benchmarks. Steam cautions that performance varies with the number of active Pals. Steam’s Palworld listing and requirements
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 11 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel Core i5-9400F | Intel Core i5-12400 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X |
| Memory | 16 GB RAM | 32 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GeForce GTX 1660 | GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or Radeon RX 6700 XT |
| DirectX | Version 11 | Version 11 |
| Network | Broadband internet | Broadband internet |
| Storage | 40 GB available; SSD required | 40 GB available; SSD required |
Compare your CPU, GPU, installed RAM and available SSD space with the tier that matters to you. Meeting the minimum is not a guarantee of a particular frame rate or identical performance in every world; Steam specifically notes the effect of active Pal counts.

Pick a multiplayer setup that fits the group
Co-op and a dedicated server address different needs. The player-count and cross-play details here come from versioned documentation and a fan guide, so they are not universal current guarantees. Pocketpair’s inspected server-types page is version 0.5.0; its server requirements page is version 0.6.8.
| Option | What it suits | Availability and group size | Setup and trade-offs |
|---|---|---|---|
| In-game co-op | A small group playing with a host | Palpedia describes co-op as host-dependent and suitable for four guests. This is fan-guide information, not a current official limit. | Less server administration than self-hosting; the world depends on the host playing, according to Palpedia. Check current game documentation for platform support and limits. |
| Self-hosted dedicated server | A group that wants a persistent world and is willing to administer a server | Palpedia describes dedicated servers as supporting up to 32 players. Verify current limits and platform support before setup. | Can stay online without the host’s game client, per Palpedia. Requires a suitable machine, network configuration and reliable storage; version 0.6.8 requirements are detailed below. |
| Community server | Players seeking a dedicated server listed in the game client | Pocketpair describes a community server as a dedicated server listed in the client. The cited version 0.5.0 page does not establish a current player limit here. | Do not assume that the listing means Pocketpair hosts or maintains the server; check the current official server guide for the applicable setup and support details. |
| Managed hosting | A group that wants a persistent server without administering its own machine | Provider-specific; no current provider, player limit or platform compatibility is established here. | Compare the provider’s current maintenance, configuration, storage and platform terms with the effort of self-hosting. No particular service has been verified. |
Choose co-op when host-dependent sessions fit your group. Consider a dedicated server when persistent access matters, and weigh self-administration against a managed option. Compatibility is especially version-sensitive: Pocketpair’s inspected version 0.5.0 page lists Steam, Xbox/Microsoft Store PC and macOS support, says PS5 cross-play is unavailable on that page’s version, and says co-op cross-play is available. Those statements describe that documentation version, not a guarantee about the current game. Pocketpair’s version 0.5.0 server types guide

Self-hosting: hardware, network and storage
Pocketpair’s version 0.6.8 server requirements recommend a CPU with at least four cores and 16 GB RAM. They say a server can boot with 8 GB RAM but warn that the lower amount increases the risk of out-of-memory crashes. The page specifies UDP port 8211 by default and router port forwarding, recommends faster SSD storage, and warns that low-performance storage may corrupt saved data. These are requirements from that specific documentation version; check the current server guide before configuring a server. Pocketpair’s version 0.6.8 server requirements
- Machine: Plan for the documented recommendation of a 4-core-plus CPU and 16 GB RAM; 8 GB is described as bootable, not as the recommended configuration.
- Network: Allow for the default UDP 8211 port and router port forwarding described by Pocketpair.
- Storage: Use faster SSD storage in line with the documentation’s recommendation and data-corruption warning.
- Operations: Account for keeping the server machine available and handling its setup and maintenance. A dedicated server removes the need for the host’s game client to remain in the world; it does not remove server administration.
These server figures are not a substitute for Steam’s Windows game requirements: one set describes a dedicated-server environment in Pocketpair documentation version 0.6.8, while Steam’s figures describe the game listing’s PC requirements.

Track Palworld 1.0 information by date
PC Gamer reported that Palworld 1.0 added 72 new Pals in an article last updated July 21, 2026. That is the publication’s dated report, not an independently verified current total. The article also noted that its location maps were still being completed after launch, so check its date and coverage before relying on a map for a particular Pal. Keep volatile details tied to their versions
Palworld’s platform compatibility, player limits, server configuration, PC requirements, creature counts and locations are details that can change. The cited official server pages have different version labels—0.5.0 for server types and 0.6.8 for requirements—so do not combine them into one supposedly current specification. Check the applicable current Pocketpair documentation for server or cross-play decisions, and use platform listings for platform-specific requirements. For community guides, look for an update date and confirm any important claim against an official source where available.
