Steam patch notes later documented countermeasures and improvements—but the record does not establish that cheating was eliminated or identify which anti-cheat system, if any, is active in the current release.
What Pocketpair confirmed in January 2024
On January 25, Pocketpair said that some players had been confirmed cheating on official servers. The studio apologized to affected players and said it would release a patch when ready, while cautioning that it was difficult to prevent all cheating immediately. Pocketpair’s official announcement on Steam did not promise an instant or complete fix.
“Currently, some players have been confirmed to be cheating on the official server. We will apply a patch as soon as it is ready, but it is currently difficult to completely prevent all cheating immediately.”
What measures Pocketpair announced in February
On February 16, Pocketpair said cheating and fraudulent activity were preventing some users from connecting to official servers. It said it was treating the issue as a priority, stating: “As a company, we do not tolerate any fraudulent activity or cheating, and we are working on measures to deal with it strictly and as a priority.” The statement is attributed to Pocketpair in GameSpot’s contemporaneous report.

What the Steam patch notes documented
Pocketpair’s notes for Steam version 0.1.4.1, dated February 6, 2024, said the update implemented countermeasures against some cheats and exploits. Notes for version 0.1.5.0, dated February 26, said measures against cheating had been improved. The official Palworld Steam news and patch notes do not provide a complete list of addressed exploits or establish that every measure announced in February shipped in a particular form.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What remains unconfirmed
- The cited statements and patch notes do not say that cheating was eliminated or that every affected incident was resolved.
- They do not identify an anti-cheat vendor or confirm which specific system is active in the current release.
- Pocketpair did not publish an incident count, a count of affected players or servers, or a number of bans in the cited material.
The timeline supports a narrower conclusion: Pocketpair acknowledged cheating, described planned responses, and recorded countermeasures and later improvements in Steam patch notes. Reports of connection trouble should be attributed to Pocketpair’s February statement rather than treated as independently verified for every player or server.
