To fish in Palworld, unlock a fishing-rod recipe in the Technology menu, craft the rod at the workbench shown in-game, and bring bait. Find a fishing spot marked by visible fish, use your rod there, and follow the prompts on screen. Fishing can reward Pals and other items—not necessarily fish.
How to get a fishing rod
- Check the Technology menu. Find an available fishing-rod recipe and unlock it with Technology Points. The required progression and recipe can vary by game version, so use the values shown in your installed game rather than an older recipe list.
- Gather the listed materials. The recipe in your Technology menu shows what you need; exact material counts are not established consistently in the available guides.
- Craft the rod at the specified workbench. Follow the recipe’s station requirement in-game. Guides describe the general Technology Tree-and-crafting route, but do not establish a complete current table of rods, stations, and recipes.
Fishing was introduced in the June 2025 Tides of Terraria update. The number and requirements of rod options may change with patches or schematic variants.
How to fish in Palworld
- Bring bait. You can look for bait through raid rewards, treasure chests, salvage, scrap, and merchants. The official update announcement also says Simple Bait crafting unlocks when Intermediate or Advanced Fishing Rod Technology is unlocked. Availability may change with updates.
- Find a fishing spot. Look for visible fish at a fishing location. They mark an area where fishing can yield Pals and other in-game items.
- Use the rod and follow the prompts. Equip or use the rod at the spot and follow the on-screen instructions for the fishing minigame. Controls vary by platform; use the prompt displayed by your game instead of relying on a universal button mapping.
Fishing spots, rewards, and updates
Fishing locations, eligible catches, and rewards are patch-sensitive. Pocketpair’s update announcement says fishing spots and obtainable Pals and rewards were adjusted, and that new high-difficulty spots were added in Sunreach and the World Tree. A September 2026 guide summarizing version 1.0.4 reports further changes to fishing difficulty in those areas, bait success amounts, and minigame guidance, plus a world setting affecting fish behavior during fishing minigames.
That means older location or reward lists may no longer match your game. Check your installed version and the current in-game spot behavior before relying on a guide’s catch table. The available sources do not establish a complete, authoritative current list of every rod’s requirements, platform controls, or each spot’s reward pool.
