Path of Exile 2’s December 17, 2024 Early Access update 0.1.0e added fast travel between discovered checkpoints in the same area, lowered passive respec costs through part of endgame progression, and adjusted endgame and monster balance. The details below describe what Grinding Gear Games announced for that patch—not necessarily how the live game works in October 2026.
How checkpoint fast travel works
In update 0.1.0e, interacting with a checkpoint opens the map overlay. From there, you can select another checkpoint you have already discovered in the same area and travel to it immediately. This is not unrestricted travel between areas: the destination must be a discovered checkpoint in the area you are currently in.

Grinding Gear Games said it added more checkpoints, generally near area entrances and exits. That placement was intended to make it easier to return to exploration after reaching an exit. The patch notes describe the feature as the “capacity to fast-travel between Checkpoints within an area.” GGG’s official 0.1.0e patch notes were published on December 17, 2024.
Passive respecs cost less across part of endgame
GGG flattened the gold cost curve for refunding passive skill points, which had risen as characters gained levels. It estimated that respeccing would generally cost approximately 40–50% less gold between the start and middle of endgame progression.

That figure is an estimate for that progression range, not a promised reduction for every character level or respec. The notes do not give a single fixed cost or claim the same percentage applies throughout the game.
Interface and convenience changes
- Advanced skill information: Right-clicking provides a shortcut to advanced skill information.
- Gamepad flask comparison: Players using a gamepad can compare equipped flasks.
- Currency Exchange: Chance Shards were added as an available currency.
- Guild Hideout travel: Interacting with a Waypoint gained a button to travel to a Guild Hideout.
Endgame and monster balance adjustments
The update changed several sources of endgame pressure, rather than focusing on one encounter. GGG removed the additional inherent elemental-resistance penalties that maps had received at tiers 6 and 11 or higher, reduced the bonus damage dealt by monster critical strikes by 40%, and made Chaos damage scale less aggressively over endgame.

Bug fixes and crashes
The patch notes list fixes for issues including Blackjaw hitboxes, party access to the Xesht fight, pathfinding jitter, gamepad interactions, and various skills and encounters. GGG also reported fixing 12 client crashes.

These are changes announced for Early Access update 0.1.0e, not confirmation of the game’s present-day mechanics. The notes document the patch on December 17, 2024; they do not establish whether its travel rules, costs, balance values, or fixes remain unchanged in the live game in October 2026.
