Can you play Path of Exile with friends?
Yes. Players can group in a party and play together. How does party loot allocation work?

In that announcement, an item allocated to another player could still be visible but greyed out. These descriptions document the system as announced in 2013; they do not establish the current settings, labels, or behavior. How does party size affect drops?
More party members do not simply multiply every kind of loot by the same amount. Grinding Gear Games’ update 3.26.0 notes describe a change to how additional party members scale item quantity and rarity: selected valuable item classes, including currency and gold, received larger increases, while ordinary armour and weapons received lower scaling. The patch notes specify “+100% more” for certain item classes such as currency and gold. This is a stated change for those classes in update 3.26.0—not a universal multiplier for all loot, and not a guarantee that every party encounter yields a particular amount. Treat the details as version-specific and consult the relevant patch notes for the game version you are playing.
What should you agree on before grouping?
- Loot preference: Decide whether you want a shared pickup race or allocated drops, then check which options are actually available in your current game.
- Progression and coordination: Agree on what you want to do together and how you will coordinate; the available sources do not establish a universal party workflow.
- Platform and version: Confirm that everyone can play together on their platform and version. Current cross-play details are not established here.
Can you share an account to play together?
No. A 2025 Grinding Gear Games support reply says not to share account credentials. It describes couch co-op as permissible when only the account owner knows the credentials and logs in. That reply does not establish couch co-op availability on every platform, so check platform-specific support information rather than assuming it applies universally.
