Peglin turns peg-popping into turn-based combat: aim an orb through a board of pegs, build damage with each hit, then use the rewards and route choices from that fight to shape a run. It borrows the bounce-and-clear appeal of Peggle, but adds roguelike exploration, enemies, bosses, and relics—not a sequel or a shared franchise.
How Peglin turns peg-popping into combat
Peglin is a pachinko roguelike from Red Nexus Games. Its orbs are your attacks: you aim and launch one into a field of pegs, and hitting more pegs increases the damage dealt to the enemy. That makes each turn a mix of choosing an attack and judging how the orb might travel through the board.
Combat is turn-based, so the bouncing action is part of a larger tactical exchange rather than a standalone arcade score chase. You collect different orbs, upgrade them, and gather relics whose effects can change both combat and the physics of a run. Enemies and surprises vary as you move through a map that changes from one attempt to the next. BlitWorks describes the structure as a sequence of level-by-level choices, with bosses at the end of each stage.
Is Peglin like Peggle?
Yes, in the most immediately recognizable way: both make bouncing balls and clearing pegs the central action. But Peglin wraps that action in turn-based battles and a roguelike route. A shot is an attack against an enemy, and the combination of orbs and relics can alter what a shot does. It is best understood as a new game using familiar peg-bouncing ideas, not as a Peggle sequel.

The comparison on Steam broadens the picture: “Peglin plays like a combination of Peggle and Slay the Spire.” Peggle helps explain the physical action; the Slay the Spire comparison points toward a run-based structure built around choices and encounters. The available descriptions establish those broad similarities, not a one-to-one match in their combat or progression systems.
What gives each run its stakes?
Every trip through the map offers a changing sequence of encounters and choices, while the orbs and relic effects you acquire influence how your build develops. Bosses cap stages, and the enemies, board interactions, and surprises can differ between runs. Defeat ends the current run, so the route and resource decisions matter: a promising combination is only useful if you survive long enough to make it work.

That reset is central to the game’s roguelike loop. Rather than treating each board as an isolated challenge, Peglin asks you to make choices across a run and adapt when your available tools or the route change.
Platforms and release dates
Peglin launched in full on Steam for Windows and macOS on August 27, 2024, after entering Early Access on April 25, 2022. Nintendo’s US store lists the digital Nintendo Switch edition with the same August 27, 2024 release date.

What changed in Peglin 2.0?
In a March 22, 2026 report, PC Gamer said Red Nexus Games announced version 2.0 with a fourth act and a final boss. The report also described a second route to unlocking playable classes, optional challenges connected to Act 4, new music, achievements and relics, improved load times and battle framerates, and renamed status effects. PC Gamer reproduced the developer’s description of Act 4 as adding powerful enemies and an opportunity to finish a run’s build, provided players survive its challenges. These update details are reported by PC Gamer; the linked Steam announcement was not independently verified here.

A roguelike with an unusually tactile attack system
Peglin is a fit for players who like run-based choices and enemy encounters but want attacks to involve more than selecting a menu option: aiming an orb and watching its path is the signature mechanic. The official studio press page reports that the game sold over 400,000 copies in its first year in Early Access; the page does not give a more precise measurement date.
