A PayMore Massapequa store page also advertises a $10 bonus gift card for qualifying console sales and describes cash or store-credit trade-ins. That is a local store offer, not proof that every PayMore location provides the same trade-in options or terms.
Can selling an old console help pay for an upgrade?
It can contribute, but the promotion does not establish the total cost of moving to another system. The cash offer depends on the console and the store’s assessment; the separate $10 bonus is a gift card, not additional cash. PayMore has not published model-specific trade-in values in the announcement, and the sources do not provide current prices for replacement consoles. Compare the store’s actual offer with the full price of the system you want, along with any other costs you expect to incur.

Before deciding, consider these three questions:
- Will the games you want run on your current system? If they will, upgrading may not be necessary for the games you plan to play.
- Does your local store accept your exact model? Confirm eligibility, the cash offer, and the promotion’s terms directly with that location.
- What is the remaining cost? Subtract the cash offer from the replacement system’s price; treat the promotional gift card separately according to where it can be used.
Why does PayMore say gamers are upgrading?
PayMore links Level Up to two changes it says are prompting upgrades: the announced November 19, 2026 release of Grand Theft Auto VI for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2’s arrival as a reason for some original Switch owners to move to newer hardware. In its announcement, PayMore says owners still using PlayStation 4 or Xbox One would need to move to supported hardware to play Grand Theft Auto VI. These are the company’s stated reasons for the promotion, not independent findings about what is driving gamers’ purchasing decisions.
PayMore CEO Stephen Preuss said that customers’ replaced technology can have value and that selling it may make an upgrade easier. President and co-founder Erik Helgesen similarly said older systems can still have resale demand that helps offset an upgrade. Both are describing PayMore’s business perspective; neither statement establishes what a particular console will sell for.

What does PayMore’s sales figure show?
PayMore says its U.S. stores bought nearly 10,000 gaming systems from consumers in one recent month and returned hundreds of thousands of dollars to customers. The company does not name the month or provide transaction records in the announcement. It also says thousands of systems move through PayMore stores month after month, including during the 2025 holiday quarter. These are company-reported figures about PayMore’s own stores, not a measure of the broader resale market.
The announcement and local store page establish neither current market prices nor which console is the best value to buy. For an individual upgrade, the useful number is the offer your store makes for your specific system, weighed against the actual cost of the replacement you want.
