Penacony is a dream-centered setting in Honkai: Star Rail, located in the Asdana star system. To follow its story without mistaking a character’s belief or a fan explanation for confirmed events, keep the source and the point in the timeline attached to each claim.
What is Penacony?
Penacony is a location in Honkai: Star Rail built around dreams. HoYoWiki’s entry for “Long Day’s Journey Into Night” places the planet in the Asdana star system and documents the arrival setup. That establishes where Penacony is and the dream-centered premise; it does not, by itself, explain every event that happens there.
HoYoverse’s Version 2.1 update notice names Dewlight Pavilion and Clock Studios Theme Park among Penacony’s locations. They help orient the setting, but they are examples, not a complete map or a plot chronology.

Which characters help orient the story?
Official character descriptions give two useful reference points:
- Robin is described as a singer born in Penacony.
- Gallagher is described as a security officer for the Bloodhound Family there.
These are concise character roles, not explanations of either character’s full motives. Treating a brief profile as a complete account of what a character wants can make later claims seem more certain than the source supports.

What is the confirmed chronology?
The available official references establish the setting and some release history, but not the order of every major revelation in Penacony’s original story arc. The timeline below therefore separates story context from game-content availability; it is not a substitute for the sequence of events in the quests.

The Version 3.4 notice’s availability time is stated in server time, and its level requirement applies to that listed continuance. The release notices establish when this later content was made available, not what happened in each quest or how the original arc resolves.

How should you read conflicting explanations?
When two accounts of Penacony disagree, check three things before deciding what to accept:
- Is it explicitly shown or stated in the game? A quest scene or dialogue is stronger evidence for canon than an explanation that does not point to one.
- Where does the claim fall in the chronology? Separate the original arc from later content such as “Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail.” A later reference should not automatically be read as part of the earlier story.
- Who is making the claim? Official update and character material establishes the specific details it states. The Version 2.2 HoYoLAB plot summary is community-authored, so its interpretations should not be treated as official canon without checking the corresponding quest text.
Community discussions show that some readers find the storyline hard to follow, but they do not establish how widespread that confusion is or settle the plot. A character’s explanation, a deliberate deception, a dream event, and a reader’s interpretation are not interchangeable categories; check the relevant quest scene before treating an explanation as the story’s final answer.

What this explanation can—and cannot—settle
The official references establish Penacony’s location, selected places and character descriptions, and the existence and release requirements of a later continuance. They do not provide enough primary story text to verify a full sequence of the central revelations, every character’s motives, or the final outcome. For those details, the relevant Trailblaze mission dialogue is the necessary canon reference; a fan summary can be a guide to a reading, but not a replacement for that text.
