Spoilers: This guide names the culprit and explains the final route. To reach Persona 4 Golden’s True Ending, spare Namatame on December 3, identify Tohru Adachi and share your suspicion on December 5, then continue the investigation on March 20 instead of going home. The extra Golden epilogue has a separate requirement: reach Rank 10 with Marie’s Aeon Social Link before the December story boss, then complete the Hollow Forest in February.
What counts as the True Ending in Persona 4 Golden?
“True Ending” is commonly used for the route that continues beyond the normal or good ending to the final dungeon. Persona 4 Golden’s additional epilogue is not an automatic part of that route: it requires Marie’s Golden-specific content as well. The distinction matters because the December and March investigation choices open the final route, while Marie’s Social Link and the Hollow Forest qualify the playthrough for the added epilogue. See the ArcanaFuse route guide and RPG Site guide for route coverage.

Follow this route checklist
- December 3 — hospital: Do not push Namatame into the TV. Continue the questioning and choose the calming final response rather than treating the case as resolved or ending the discussion.
- December 5 — identify Adachi: Name Tohru Adachi and tell the Investigation Team about your suspicion. Identifying him but keeping it secret leads to the separate Accomplice branch.
- By the December deadline — clear the story dungeon: Complete Magatsu Inaba and defeat Adachi and Ameno-sagiri. Guides give the deadline as December 24 or before December 25; RPG Site recommends finishing by December 22 for its Christmas-date guidance. For the Golden epilogue route, finish Marie’s Aeon Social Link before defeating Ameno-sagiri.
- February — Golden-only content: If Marie’s link reached Rank 10 before the December boss, complete the Hollow Forest section and rescue her.
- March 20 — continue investigating: When asked whether to go home, answer no. Follow the Junes food-court lead, speak with Dojima and Nanako at the Samegawa riverbank, receive the Orb from Igor in the Velvet Room, and exhaust the gas-station attendant’s dialogue. Then enter Yomotsu Hirasaka, clear it, and defeat Izanami that day.
December 3: spare Namatame and complete the dialogue chain
Pushing Namatame into the TV triggers a bad ending. Save before the hospital confrontation if you want a recovery point, then keep asking questions until the scene reaches its final response. RPG Site prints the sequence this way:
- Any Choice
- Wait a second here…
- We’re missing something.
- Their true feelings.
- Something’s been bothering me.
- We’re missing something…
- Calm the hell down!
The first response is unrestricted in that sequence. The important distinction is to spare Namatame and continue the questioning rather than letting the group act on anger.

December 5: name Tohru Adachi and tell the team
When the game asks who the culprit is, identify Tohru Adachi and share that suspicion with the Investigation Team. Naming another person, or failing to tell the team, takes the story away from the True Ending route. If you identify Adachi but protect him by keeping his identity secret, the game follows the Accomplice branch instead; it is a distinct ending, not a shortcut to the True Ending.
December dungeon and Marie’s separate requirement
Clear Magatsu Inaba and defeat Adachi and Ameno-sagiri by the game’s December deadline. The cited guides phrase the cutoff as December 24 or before December 25. RPG Site recommends completion by December 22 in connection with its Christmas-date guidance, but that is an earlier target rather than the stated final cutoff.
Rank #2
Marie is required for the Golden epilogue, not for the underlying True Ending route. Reach Rank 10 in her Aeon Social Link before defeating Ameno-sagiri. That enables the February Hollow Forest content; complete it to rescue Marie and qualify for the added epilogue.
March 20: refuse to go home and follow every lead
After the December and February events, March 20 is the final route checkpoint. Saying yes when prompted to go home closes the story on the normal/good outcome. Choose no and continue the investigation:

- At Junes, continue the food-court conversation.
- Follow the lead to Dojima and Nanako at the Samegawa riverbank.
- Go to the Velvet Room and collect the Orb from Igor.
- Speak with the gas-station attendant until the dialogue is exhausted.
- Enter Yomotsu Hirasaka, clear the dungeon, and defeat Izanami that day.
Which ending route do these requirements unlock?
| Outcome | December investigation | March 20 and final dungeon | Marie and Hollow Forest |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal/good ending | The route does not continue through the required investigation choices. | Going home ends the story without Yomotsu Hirasaka. | Not required for this outcome. |
| True Ending route | Spare Namatame, then identify Adachi and share the suspicion. | Say no to going home, follow the lead sequence, and complete Yomotsu Hirasaka. | Not required for the underlying route. |
| Golden epilogue | Meet the True Ending route requirements and reach Marie Rank 10 before the December boss. | Complete the final investigation and dungeon. | Complete Hollow Forest in February and rescue Marie. |
| Accomplice branch | Identify Adachi but keep his identity secret. | Does not proceed to the True Ending route. | Not the Golden epilogue route. |
Do you need every Social Link at max rank?
No. Saying goodbye to maxed Social Links on March 20 can provide additional character scenes, but RPG Site says those farewell scenes are not all prerequisites for unlocking the True Ending route. Prioritize the required investigation decisions and, if you want the Golden epilogue, Marie’s Rank 10 and Hollow Forest.
