How to start Ohya’s Devil Confidant
Ohya is a journalist who trades Phantom Thieves information with Joker. Her articles affect Palace security, which is the focus of this Confidant’s benefits. Prima Games gives June 23 as the earliest start date and places her at Crossroads Bar in Shinjuku during the evening. Availability can vary by guide: published schedules differ, so check the game rather than relying on a weekday list. Atlus’ Persona 5 Royal site describes the broader Confidant system, in which building relationships improves the Phantom Thieves’ abilities.

What Ohya’s Confidant abilities do
Every listed rank ability changes Palace security; these are not general combat or money rewards. Lower security can support an approach that values stealth and infiltration, but the route is not a broad combat-skill package.

Walkthroughs differ on the rank 5 English name, reporting “Unbelievable Scoop” or “Unprecedented Scoop”; check the localized name shown in your game. Their descriptions agree on its effect.

Rank answers that build affinity
These recommended responses follow Prima Games’ route guide. The wording may differ slightly by localization or guide version; use the displayed in-game option as the final authority. A matching Devil Persona is a general affinity optimization tip, not a requirement to advance Ohya’s route.
- Rank 2: “Mishima might…”; then “It’s for the article.”
- Rank 3: “You shouldn’t make assumptions.”; later, “She was falsely accused?”
- Rank 4: “Leave it to me” or “That was our deal.”
- Rank 5: “That’s unforgivable”; “I don’t mind it.”
- Rank 6: “He must not like you”; “You should trust in her”; “That’s the spirit” or “You’re a great journalist”; then “I’ll dig up some more for you.”
- Rank 7: “Don’t let him provoke you”; “You’re charming as you are”; “That’s the spirit.”
- Rank 8: “That’s not like you”; then “Good luck” or “Be careful.”

Complete the Mementos gate after rank 7
After reaching rank 7, complete the request “Fighting for Truth in Journalism” in Mementos before continuing Ohya’s progression. Prima Games calls the follow-up event rank 7.5; other walkthroughs treat it as an event rather than a formal Confidant rank. After the request, the follow-up response listed by Prima is “You seem tired.”
